Guinea Pigs have different nutritional needs to Rabbits. Therefore Rabbits & Guinea Pigs shouldn't really be kept together in the same hutch. Pigs need lots of Vitamin C because unlike Rabbits & most Mammals they can't make their own in their bodies. They need plenty of fresh fruit & vegetables to provide them with this vitamin C. These can include Cabbage, Curly Kale, Carrots, Spinach, Broccoli, Corn on the cob, Apples as well as wild plants like Dandelions &Vetch. Guinea Pigs are social Animals & MUST be kept in small groups, 3 or 4 Sows will live happily together if introduced when young. I wouldn't recommend keeping more than 2 Boars together. The hutch should be at least 3ft long or bigger depending on the number you decide to keep. They do enjoy being outside in a run & will also help keep your lawn short!!! They shouldn't go out in the run if it is wet or very cold. Guinea Pigs don't usually suffer too many ailments, the most common is Mites. Mites are usually picked up in the Hay & are easy to get rid of. If taken to a Vet they will be given an injection (Ivermectin) this will be repeated in 10 days & will kill all the Mites.
